not much of a post, but enough to show signs of life - KY

is anyone else excited that uni's starting? and with the start of uni, i'll have to give up on some things, so thought i'd reminisce on them while i can. well, since i gave up GG around the 11th episode (did i hear anyone scream sacrilege?) i've been making myself useful, whether it be parking myself infront of 56inch screens, or 5600 inch screens. so was reading the other entries and saw broze's one on biggie. which reminded me of this.

(couldn't find a decent pic)

Notorious. release date 2009. yer, that means this year. it was still on poster when i caught slumdog, so i'm guessing it's not yet released. would anyone watch this? i was always more of a 2pac man than notorious. but we all know the reason why they've only released docos and not movies of 2pac (because he's still alive). and well that reminded me of a man called oliver stone.

and the one called W. the first movie ever made of a president while he was still in office. i give my respect to george, cos he had the cajones to stand by any decisions or policies he made. but i always imagined that he'd be tried for war crimes in 50 years time. but this is one i'm actually kind of interested in seeing.

aside from those, other movies i want to catch rain, hail or mid-semester exam. watchmen, transformers 2, the other w. wolverine, the GI that is Joe, Sherlock Holmes, restraining my gag reflexes - Dorian Gray, Star Trek, Public Enemies (damon and depp), and.. i'm not ashamed to say it - Harry Potter. without a rom-com in sight, i think it's safe to say that 2009 is a blokish year in the theatres to say the least.

random anecdote: when my sister went to watch Benjamin Button, she left the theatre - behind two of the burliest, most ripped men in life, bawling their eyes out confessing to each other that it was the most beautiful thing they'd ever seen.

random question: having picked up how i met your mother, which i have a theory that says it is 21st century 'Friends' minus phoebe.. but who is ted's wife? and where does robin fit in?

random just random: hope can meet up with y'all muchos over this year, so we can study hard and play hard. or for some, just play hard. seeing y'all soon.

CFWIA keo version. - KY

Economic depression be darned..

1. I think i'll take brose's watch as well. got awesome, incredibly??!!
2. HTC Touch Pro
3. 6 days of Jack Bauer madness
4. can never have enough weights..

5. they said it was the Green car of the year, but we all know any car that weighs 5 tonnes cannot be a green car.. still, i'm a sucker for suvs.
6. Jack Nicholson's lifetime courtside seats, without his henchman/niece
7. A library filled with my dad's old bible commentaries, reference books and all the knowledge of the world.
Anyways, i'm off for the rest of the year, to my retreat into the wilderness unless you're looking for a beat down in 2k9 on wearne's farewell. it's been fun rain team. Happy Holidays.

while you were sleeping - KY

and by sleeping, I mean not studying. MAN, completely missed the opportunity to blog on:-
1. NFL opening day - the pigskin is still alive!
2. NBA opening day - the 65 year old breaks his ankle in his first game!
3. El Presidente Obama - Yes We Can! I'm not sure I'm even a demo..

and in no effort to redeem myself, I bring you one of the awesomest things to have graced my life in the past month. needless to say it's not about consolidation, but about basketball

NBA International League Pass

yes - that is right, NBA basketball 24 hours a day, every single game, online - granted you have decent internet connection. it gives the geeks (us) all a chance to keep up to date with our fantasy points. yeah pfft, like I'll be looking at my pseudo-clipizard fantasy team these days. and it's all for the meager price of 84.95 USD. our weak dollar may make our ipods cheaper, but it makes this baby a questionable 126.75 AUD. But you can't put a price on watching the forum blue and gold wallopping (double p? single p?) on the rockets, captain china, and t-mac. So get a couple of mates, chip in and share an account, or ask me for mine, or don't be cheap and buy one yourself.

On other notes:

Burn After Reading: Dark Comedy, nihilistic? (i haven't used that word in two years), get a couple of mates willing to laugh at anything, well worth watching the senselessness of middle white america, a douche that is Clooney, and an effeminate Brad Pitt.

Movies to watch this summer (with or without a girlfriend, in cinemas, or at home): Quantum of Solace, Max Payne?? HSM3???? so it's a bit slim pickins, but stuff worth keeping you on the couch, Pan's Labyrinth, PS I Love You, Iron Man on blu-ray, Hellboy 2..

Or - you could go fishin, get golden, and grow a keg.

And I leave you with Josh Groban's performance at the Emmy's in front of a stiff crowd. Felt sorry for him that no one was into it. But gotta love the language he speaks with his eyes and eyebrows.

Newcastle - Man. U 1-1!!!!! / The manly way to exercise - KY

Well this entry has nothing to do with the former title apart from the fact that this will probably be the highlight of my sophomore EPL season.

Instead, we're here to talk about exercise balls! That's right, every bloke that walks into a gym goes straight for the free weights and the bench. What we often neglect is the rubber exercise balls we always see the working mothers, and rehab clients using. In fact, to confirm their female connotative disposition in our minds, i bought one for my mom this mother's day (along with the fact that she bought one). But that is as far from the truth as could be.

you can do squats, as demonstrated by Yao Ming..

work on your back or chest, do squats with it, on it, and do push ups.. speaking of push ups, since we don't have nearly the amount of telemarketing as USA, i'd like to introduce - the pefect push up

so while we uni students gulp down our burgwers, sushi, and $7 pho, let's take a chance and embrace these cheap alternatives to the money hording (did i spell that right?) industry that is the gym, let's take on these cheaper alternatives.. and if all else fails, then it can become like all the rest of our ill-spent equipment, become an addition to our living room furniture.. much like my mom's.

man's greatest creations - KY

the same race that tried to build the tower of Babel, has built another tower.
a tower of obesity.
heralding from my homestate of California....
i give you the 100x100

how does this baby work? well in in-n-out, a SoCal fastfood chain store you can order their icon "double double" that's two beef patty, two pieces of cheese and no veggies between hamburger bread. previously it had become urban legend that customers started order 5x5s, and 10x10s, ie 10 beef patties 10 pieces of cheese. Well i think we found the alpha male.
this tower carries a meager 19490 calories. and costs $97.88US

the dude took 2 hours to eat it. yeah that's right. the dude ate it....

if that's not enough heart attack in a meal for you.. i mean 19000 calories.. welll in-n-out's other specialty is animal fries (pictured above).. and you wonder why they call it in n out.. looks like vomit on fries.. but rest assured.. the dish is a thing of beauty. even if you're watching your weight, on a diet, or one of the olsen twins - you have to try these two of man's greatest creations out at least once in your live. Ok, maybe not a 100x100, but a double double at least. In the end, it's just gonna go in and out.

the KG game - KY

there is nay a more externally intense person on the hardwood currently than Kevin Garnett (KG). see picture above. sure Kobe is willing to kill everyone on and off the court to win the game. but.. KG is the dude that just screams profanities to himself running up and down the court to get himself hyped up. anyways. i have a certain disinclination to him. love his passion. loathe his team. but there is a game. a game called "the KG game".

thought i should share it with y'all. (taken from Bill Simmons the Sports Guy)

... game called KG that. It's when you take something ordinary and go crazy over it. For example, we went out for Chinese last Friday and after one of my friends ordered his beef and broccoli i told him he should KG it when it comes. When the waiter brought out his beef, he got up on his chair and started pounding his chest screaming "THATS HOW YOU ORDER CHINESE" he then ran around high fiving random people while pounding his chest and screaming. We ended up getting kicked out, but I'd say it was worth it...

reckon every person should have this adrenaline expulsion at some random moment during their everyday lives.. y'know - spice things up.

following on that - there's nothing better, in middle of a KG road rage, than being in a KG road rage, in your good ol' SUV. and i've been raised up on them. so much that the fool i am will take a jeep wrangler, instead of a maserati. yerrp you heard that right. and for the asian in all of us.. i bring the toyota sequoia.

you don't need to know how fast it goes, just know that it'll go, and go and go and go. starting at a modest 34K (US). that's right. "THAT'S HOW YOU DRIVE A CAR!!! THAT'S ALL HEART BABY, ALL HEART!!"

So.. that is all folks.

stuck in the office? in the books? - KY

wish you were somewhere else?...

rage.

welll i do, - you can tell by my lacksadaisical attitude towards the imminent disasters that are the finals. but lets find some sweet escape for awhile shall we? and there's nothing worse than leaving with a piece of luggage that won't be able to survive the trip there. or back.

samsonite. it speaks class, reliability and professionalism. so any respectable man can't leave town without a garment bag, cos we gotta have room for those armani suits. well nothing speaks louder in actions than the samsonite bayamo garment bag. the dude's got the works - yeah sure, i'll store your garments, but y'know what? i'll also store your shoes, your laundry bags, heck i'll even do it so efficiently that you can carry me ON to the plane. now THAT's a garment bag, and only at the small price of one macbook.

and of course, what's travelling without some leather. two-wheelers are a thing of the past. all luggages that are worth having have four-wheels, and that's the only way this leather baby knows how to roll. you carry these two around and people'll know you know how to travel.

right now- i'll settle for those go-lo twenty dollar suitcases. but still.

ahhh sweet escape.

the one that almost never was; the boiler's broken - KY

originally posted awhile ago. but it seemed too happy a time (half the rain team celebrating a double for man.u).. so now seemed as much of an opportune time as any. if you've got a spare 7 minutes 47 seconds (plus the time it takes to load). just shut off everything else and listen to this dude bemoan his water boiler predicament. simply put, he has a musically emotional epiphany.

Damien Rice - Cold Water (Live at BBC 4 Sessions)

take a few moments for everyone to breath and get un-emoed.
however, if you skipped him.. and prefer something a bit more jovial, how bout some wedding music..

what's better than a thank you - KY

$9k watches for all your teammates. thank you ko-be.
really. $9,000. Maybe cos I don't earn 20 mill a year. but unless the watch prints money as well as tell time, i'm not getting it. but classy move mr. em-vee-pee.

i'm breaking out my acquisitiveness.. in a big way.
exhibit A:

yeah i'm a year and half behind. but it just draws me in. i feel like i'm a fly trying to fight off the fluorescent lights.

exhibit B:
get ready for some serious kenneth cole manlove.

its not a 9k watch. but ditto to the fly analogy for kenneth cole.
and errr.
lakers spurs is on now. so my man(fashion)crush will have to continue later.

meanwhile, 3000kms away.. - KY

where we know what game ol' dave was watching
where grown men do more than just the shoulder hug

we break through and wait for the inevitable.

a step back to the good ol' days,
where men had as much right as women to show off their legs

but there is a worry in me. somewhere, nagging that boston-lakers would be too good to be true. i do wonder sometimes, if there were ever a basketball player who went commando back in the jerry-west days. a tad pornographic right? but as long as they're wearing the purple and gold -

these days i don't care as long as we raise up dem banners.
